Timely and unique for its value, the second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day. For 2014, the appointment with the most special day for moms is Sunday, May 11th.
In Italy Mother’s Day was introduced in the 50s by Raul Zaccari, then-Senator and Mayor of Bordighera, who celebrated on the second Sunday of May in 1956. Initiative was then resumed the following year by Don Othello Migliosi in Umbria, and since then the mom is a day dedicated to the anniversary celebrated with affection and participation, also for its cultural and religious significance.
Together with Father’s Day, Mother’s Day is an annual event deeply felt. Deep feelings, affection, love and emotion on this day also are expressed in more traditional ways: flowers, greeting cards, small gifts, special moments spent together.
